Identification number

All taxpayers including foreign citizens should register with State registry of physical bodies. Every physical body is given an individual number, which is necessary to be able to perform any business related activities such as office space rental, opening bank accounts and tax payments.

Identification number from the State registry of tax payers is obligatory for use by any organizations and institutions including National Bank of Ukraine, Commercial banks and other financial institutions in case of:

• Revenue payments which are subject to taxation and other mandatory payments in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.
• Contracts signing, object of which are subject to taxation and create obligations to make payments.
• Opening bank accounts.

Thus a foreign citizen who has come to Ukraine with the intent of making a profit or opening bank accounts should obtain the identification number from the State registry. He or she is obliged to have the identification number in case of possession of any objects of taxation as described in legislation of Ukraine (or international treaties) and is obliged to make related tax or any other payments.
